Private Reiner stands atop San Juan Heights and surveys
the city of San Juan a mile away. His wide-brimmed
campaign hat helps ward off the hit sun, but his
blue wool uniform is better suited to a Montana fall
than summer in a Cuban jungle. Now, after the
final assault was covered with Gatling Guns,
an exhausted, hot and dirty private awaits
the next development in this
“splendid little war.”
