The Americans #908 Private Robert C. Knee
7th Marines, Guadalcanal, 1942
Another long blistering day, another sleepless night
filled with the taunts of an unseen enemy. Robert Knee
wondered if it would ever be over, the endless jungle,
the rain, the bugs, and the waves upon waves of Japanese,
who came hurtling out of the tropical night, to break
the tiny group of marines. But Knee handled it the way
Marines always have. He cursed his Sergeant and cleaned
his rifle as he begun the long road that started
at Pearl Harbor and ended in Tokyo Bay.
