The Americans #945
Captain Sheperd Paine
U.S. Cavalry, 1880

There was a drastic uniform change in 1872 from the
despised leftover Civil War clothing to a new, different look.
This new uniform, being fancy and glamorous, was a
great morale booster. The officers' dress uniform with
plumes, cords and flounders especially cut a dashing sight
in full dress at spit and polish ceremonies.
Our figure depicts a cavalry officer's dress uniform
as modified from the 1872 change and worn
throughout the 1880s.
